Spartanburg, S.C. – The Mary Black Foundation is pleased to announce a five-year Healthy Families Initiative to provide comprehensive, evidence-based parent education and supports intended to take the guesswork out of parenting.  The Positive Parenting Program (or Triple P) gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, which helps them confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems from developing.  “We all know that parents play the most important role in raising healthy and successful adults, but we also know that parents aren’t given an instructional manual to do this most difficult and demanding job.  We are excited to be able to support parents through Triple P,” said Kathy Dunleavy, President/CEO of the Mary Black Foundation.

The Foundation will partner with Hope Center for Children, Children’s Trust of SC, and Triple P America to build the capacity of Spartanburg County organizations to implement the Positive Parenting Program.  “It takes all of us working together to ensure that our children are thriving.  Hope Center is thrilled to partner with the Foundation on this Initiative,” said Chamlee Loscuito, Hope Center for Children’s CEO.

Hope Center for Children hired Angela Talley Robinson as the Healthy Families Initiative Director in March 2017.  Angela will coordinate the implementation activities, provide technical assistance to implementing agencies, and ensure families in Spartanburg know where to go for help when they have questions or need extra support.

Over the next three months, the following organizations will receive training, technical assistance, and grant dollars to implement the Positive Parenting Program.  Triple P information and workshops will be available to families in Spartanburg County beginning in summer 2017.
