Spartanburg Interfaith Alliance Kicks Off 2016 Program of Events

SPARTANBURG – The Spartanburg Interfaith Alliance will kick off its 2016 program of events Thursday, April 28, 2016, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Monarch Café. This session entitled “Rising Up – The Northside Project Underway” will feature a presentation from guest speaker Bill Barnet, former mayor of Spartanburg and board chair of the Northside Development Project. Mr. Barnet will present updates on the revitalization efforts taking place in the Northside neighborhood as well as Monarch Café, a nonprofit organization that is providing jobs and healthy food options in this neighborhood.

The Spartanburg Interfaith Alliance is expecting over 50 individuals from various faith communities to attend the kick off session. This meeting will provide clergy, lay leaders, and faith communities an opportunity to network, learn about the Spartanburg Interfaith Alliance, and stay informed about important issues in the greater Spartanburg County community.

The Spartanburg Interfaith Alliance is a network of clergy, lay leaders, and faith communities that have joined together for the purpose of contributing to the common good. The Alliance was formed in 2014 as a partnership between area clergy and The Spartanburg County Foundation with the central goal to serve as a resource hub for community engagement and create a network to leverage the faith community and its many assets in order to meet the needs of the greater Spartanburg County community.
