The Self Family Foundation announces grants awarded

Frank J. Wideman, III, President of The Self Family Foundation announced the following grants were awarded by the trustees at their April 23, 2016 board meeting:
Humane Society of Greenwood County – $300,000 payable over 5 years for the Spay and Neuter Clinic.
Clemson University Foundation – $40,000 for the Call Me MISTER Summer Leadership Institute.
Healthy Learners – $25,000 for the Healthy Learners Greenwood program.
Westside Community Development Center, Inc. – $22,500 for the CREST Summer Camp programs.
Greenwood Family YMCA – $20,000 for Outreach Programs including High Hopes and Splash Water Safety.
Impact America SC – $13,715 for the FocusFirst Vision Care program for Greenwood County.
Reach Out and Read Carolinas – $7,500 to expand Reach Out and Read programs in Greenwood in partnership with the Montgomery Center.
Arts Council of Greenwood – $5,000 to support the outreach program coordinator position.
Community Outreach Center (Abbeville) – $5,000 designated for computers and educational software for the afterschool program.
The Self Family Foundation’s primary areas of emphasis are education, community wellness, and arts, culture & history. The Foundation’s chief geographic area of interest is Greenwood County, South Carolina. Trustees are Mat Self (Chairman), Sally Self, M.D., Jay Self, Bubba Self, Furman Self, Cade Brennan Jackson, Ginger Self Goldsmith, Laurie Self Pulver, M.D., Welborn Adams and Ankoma Anderson. The Self Family Foundation was organized in 1942 and to date has awarded over $65,000,000 in grants to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Greenwood and the State of South Carolina.
