SCGMN December Quarterly Gathering

National leader Andrea Levere, whose work at the helm of Capitalize Good was made for this moment, will join us to discuss nonprofit enterprise capital and how funders can think about building strong organizations that are resilient in times of crisis and ready for times of opportunity and innovation. Too few nonprofit leaders and funders understand the importance of a nonprofit’s balance sheet. However, if we integrate the basic principles of finance into philanthropy, we can create more resilient grantees and, consequently, a more resilient community.
She will be joined by Sara Gibson from 20 Degrees, who will provide an in-depth look at how their team helps nonprofits understand their own financial scenarios and develop plans for earned revenue, and she’ll share examples of their work in South Carolina.

Andrea Levere, Founder & CEO, of Capitalize Good will be our principle speaker. Capitalize Good aims to expand access to Enterprise Capital for nonprofits to build financial sustainability by providing consulting services to funders, delivering technical assistance to nonprofits, and engaging in advocacy and thought leadership to disrupt philanthropy and reimagine the relationship between funders and grantees.

Sara Gibson, Founder & CEO, of 20 Degrees leads a team of innovative, irreverent optimists changing the culture of philanthropy and the business of child care. Their background in financial management, planning, and organizational leadership is complemented by our experience in the nonprofit and early childhood education spaces.

Katy Davenport, Chief Strategy Officer, of CommunityWorks, actively collaborates with nonprofits, assisting them in understanding their balance sheets and guiding funders to invest wisely within the broader nonprofit community. They are also proud recipients of a McKenzie Scott grant.

 

Dena Chadwick, President & CEO, of Philanthropy Southeast will join us for to present a joint session about the state of philanthropy in the South, highlighting current trends, challenges, cautious approaches, and the value of network membership.
