The Missing Equation: Navigating Risk to Maximize Impact

Philanthropy is, at its heart, a high-stakes investment in social change. Yet, while donors and funders work hard to understand and measure impact (the “return”), they frequently ignore the other half of the equation: risk (or at least don’t work to make explicit their implicit assumptions about risk). The failure to think about risk is diluting results and potentially costing funders billions of dollars annually.

Join Tamela Spann, Vice President, Community Investments at Hollingsworth Funds, for a panel-led discussion designed to help boards and executive leadership identify their organization’s specific “risk appetite” and determine where they sit on the spectrum of risk taking.
