  • WHAT: The inaugural class of the Spartanburg County Criminal Justice Youth Institute will kick off its four-month leadership training program Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the George Dean Johnson, Jr. School of Business and Economics. Forty-one students and their parents will gather in the Mock Courtroom for a brief program and introduction to the Institute.
    The Spartanburg County Criminal Justice Youth Institute, a partnership of the Clerk of Court and The Spartanburg County Foundation, is a four-month leadership training program available for all 11th and 12th grade students in Spartanburg County. Launched in 2016, this program seeks to help students gain a deeper understanding of the inner-workings of the Criminal Justice System, eliminate misconceptions, build long-lasting partnerships between youth and criminal justice officials, and empower Spartanburg County youth to become positive contributors and leaders in our community.

  • WHERE: The George Dean Johnson, Jr. School of Business and Economics (160 E. St. John Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306)
    This event will not be open to the public; however, media are encouraged to be present for coverage of the program. There will be interview and photo opportunities.
